FREDERICTON (GNB) – The New Brunswick Human Rights Commission is accepting nominations for the 31st New Brunswick Human Rights Award.

The commission established the award to recognize outstanding effort, achievement or leadership by individuals or organizations who promote equality and human rights in the province on a volunteer basis.

People are encouraged to nominate New Brunswickers who promote the principles of equality, respect for diversity and inclusion in their communities. The deadline is Aug. 1. The nomination form is available on the commission’s website or by calling 1-888-471-2233.

The award was founded in 1988 to mark the 40th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. It is presented annually to commemorate New Brunswick Human Rights Day, Sept. 15. Last year’s recipient was the New Brunswick Multicultural Council.
